Ignore the giant “190MB/s” on the packaging — that’s the read speed, how fast footage copies off the card to your laptop. Nice to have, but it’s not what keeps your drone recording. What matters is the sustained write speed, and that’s hidden in two little logos.

V30 (the V is for Video Speed Class) guarantees the card can write at least 30MB/s continuously. U3 (a 3 inside a U) guarantees the same 30MB/s floor by an older naming scheme. They mean effectively the same thing: 30MB/s sustained, which is 240Mbps — comfortably above the ~100Mbps a DJI Mini 4 Pro or Air 3S throws at the card in 4K. If a card shows V30 or U3, it will keep up with any current consumer drone. If it shows V10, U1, or no class logo at all, it will not, no matter how big the headline number is.

You’ll also see A1/A2 ratings. Those are about app-loading speed on phones and are irrelevant to drones — don’t pay extra chasing them. And capacity: 128GB is the sweet spot for most flyers (roughly two hours of 4K), 256GB if you shoot a lot in one session and hate swapping cards in a field.
